Nestled in the heart of Kurrajong Village in the beautiful Hawkesbury Hinterland is Toque Restaurant and Café, a must for travellers and locals searching for locally grown, fresh produce from Kurrajong’s famous Farm Gate Trail and beyond.
Situated in an early settlers’ cottage circa 1914, Toque is owned and run by the excellent Sydney Chef, David Falson, whose training spanned award-winning Balmoral Bathers’ Pavilion under owner and author Serge Dansereau, as well as some of the Kurrajong Region’s best classical and contemporary restaurants and cafés.
Approximately 80 kms north-west of Sydney, visitors to Toque restaurant can still admire the sweeping green hills that formed the backdrop for the site’s stone-fruit orchard at the turn of the century. Live jazz on Sundays has become an institution in the Village, and should not be missed during your visit.
A young Chef with an immense interest in and knowledge of local food and wine, Falson’s restaurant is a valuable contribution to the Village’s charm, employing various local staff with an interest in food preparation and the restaurant industry.
All food served at Toque is handmade in the Toque kitchen, including stocks, sauces, desserts, cakes and breads, all from local seasonal produce. Falson is truly passionate about food and continually inspires his young staff to strive for excellence.
Inspired by French and Mediterranean cuisine, Falson’s menu – which changes seasonally – has been recognised by top reviewers as bringing the best of European cooking to the Hawkesbury and Lower Blue Mountains Region.
Toque is fully licensed, open from Wednesday to Sunday for brunch, lunch, dinner or a tasting plate under the stars. Call 02 45 73 2724 for bookings and more information.
